Giving with Passion
A boy’s basket of bread and fish, a widow’s last two coins, a Samaritan’s care of a stranger, a tax collector’s reparations towards those he wronged.
Wrapped up in the story of Good News, we hear stories of people giving with passion. Gifts of calling, sacrifice, generosity, and justice. Passionate giving that brings about transformed living.
In our world of need and brokenness, may we give with glad and generous hearts, so that we would partake in a mission to free captives, uplift the poor, and fight against oppression.
People of God, how has God gifted you?
With your skills, your experiences, your abilities, your resources, and your story, how might you give with passion that reflects Christ’s call for liberation, justice, and flourishing?
What are you needing to receive from God or others to experience liberation, justice, and flourishing in your own life?
Spirit of God, grant in us hearts that give with passion, awareness that looks beyond ourselves, empathy to hold another’s pain, and courage to do something about it.
Amen
